Ready.Set.Summer.

Finals are finished. Projects are completed. Now I (in)patiently wait for teachers to post grades and attempt relaxation before summer courses begin.

At tonight's farewell social for the graduating PRSSA seniors the question of the hour was, "What are your plans after graduation?" Not a single person in the room has a concrete job upon graduating from the communication program. Our own chapter president, who is a master at networking, has no job offers. He has held three separate internships all in large, well-respected companies, was the VP of PR for his fraternity and has won a handful of awards within the PRSA community. If he can't find a job, where does that leave me?

While I still have a year left at UNF and have yet to begin an internship, the pressure to accomplish as much as possible in the time I have left is on. I'm active on campus, have a decent GPA, am an officer within PRSSA, but is this enough?

I don't live with the 'Disney Mentality' that is, just believe in your dreams and you can do anything imaginable. I'm a fan of hard work, setting realistic goals, and constructive criticism. That's not to say I don't dream of one day owning my own PR firm. The first step to accomplishing that is to start networking and absorbing tricks of the trade now. Which is why I registered for PRVille Top Shelf Social Media conference today! Check it out and sign up now: http://bit.ly/beudUx

I'm excited for the future, but extremely grateful for summer break. I'll be relaxing on the beach for the next few days to reward myself for the chaos of the last four months of school. Hopefully this will be the longest 10 days of my life. Come out to 16th South with a cooler of Coronas and join me.
